Ring of Voices

Ring of Voices is an immersive installation commissioned by the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum’s permanent exhibit “In Their Words: Stories by Women on the Ground and In the Air.” The installation includes a six channel surround sound experience that tells the stories of 18 women in hot air ballooning through a rich spatial sound experience in their own voices as well as accompanying generative projection within the space in both English and Spanish for hearing impaired visitors. The experience is ten minutes in duration taking visitors on a journey through the challenges and rewards of women in this unique sport. Mounted from the ceiling in the center of the room, a balloon ring casts shadows against the wall and creates a ring of shadow around the exhibit space.

Ring of Voices is on view at the Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum during the museums regular opening hours. The exhibit In Their Words also features a 30′ mural by artist Haley Greenfeather English with projection mapping by Mirabelle Jones as well as interactive objects that share their stories triggered by proximity sensors also developed by Mx. Jones as a COVID-19 safe alternative to hands on interactivity.
